The origin of aluminium has been moulded using Alum. The word Alum comes from Alumen, the Latin word for bitter salt.

The first record of alum was made by the Greek historian Herodorus and dates to the fifth century BC. It was used as a fixative for cloth dyeing and became hugely important to the European fabric industry, at one time its value was more than that of gold.

Today it is far more widely available and used extensively in industry making it a modern yet highly sustainable material which is key to its inclusion in the artists work.

Ken has developed a new series called Lúna (meaning Moon)  using this beautiful silver toned material, perfectly marrying the ancient and the modern.
