Description
Until 1954, the Blasket Islands, or Na Blascaodaí in Irish, were inhabited by a group of gifted Irish language writers who vividly wrote about their way of life on this remote and rugged archipelago. At its height, the completely Irish-speaking population of the Blaskets numbered 175 residents. Today the remote islands are home to 1,100 acres of unspoiled mountainous land, rich flora and fauna, and tales of an ancient way of life.
