Blasket Islands, Patina on Copper – Ken Bolger
Until 1954, The Blasket Islands, or Na Blascaodaí in Irish, were inhabited by a group of gifted Irish language writers who vividly wrote about their way of life on this remote and rugged archipelago. At its height, the completely Irish-speaking population of The Blaskets numbered 175 residents. Today the remote islands are home to 1,100 acres of unspoiled mountainous land, rich flora and fauna, and tales of an ancient way of life.
Each piece is made to order and therefore can have slight variations in appearance. No two are the same, making each piece of art as unique as the place it comes from.
