The Mission – Sustainability
Sustainability and the use of reclaimed materials whenever and wherever possible is a hallmark of all Kens work.
All of Kens pieces are made with care in his rural workshop which he built using locally sourced materials, often incorporating materials that would otherwise have gone to landfill.
“Sustainability Is the key to all the art work I produce . It starts with the workshop I built from materials sourced locally that would have otherwise gone to landfill. This has provided me with a unique inspiring space to produce my pieces.
The Valencia slate I use is not fit for its original purpose but an amazing medium to work with. This is all sourced locally. I am also lucky to be able to source al the wood ,printing and packaging I use locally as well.
When I looked at copper as a medium it was also based on how sustainable that would be. Copper always holds its value therefore it will always be heavily recycled.
I went to great length to source all my frames within Ireland and these are produced by a small company in Clonakilty county Cork”. – Ken Bolger 2020
Ken carries this deep belief in sustainability throughout all his art and craftwork.
He combines recycled materials and ancient techniques to craft beautifully individual art pieces.
